American Airlines has implemented a Ticket Extension Policy for corporations with a contracted travel agreement between January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021. This does not include Business Extra or On Business.  This policy applies to tickets issued in 2020 – 2021.  Our Travel Notice extension policy on American is available when ticketed on 001 ticket stock:

Inventory Requirements


 

·         Applicable to new fare

·         Booking requirements - Rebook travel and reprice the applicable fare, fare difference will apply

·         Basic Economy tickets with Point of Commencement North/South America and Asia issued on/after 01APR21 are non-changeable and are excluded from this extension

o    Changeable Basic Economy fares (issued prior to April 1, 2021 or changeable per the fare rules) which qualify for this extension may be used towards the purchase of main cabin or higher cabin fares if another BE fare is not available

§   New ticket will remain non-refundable

·         All other non-changeable fares are excluded from this extension

·         Must include the Contracted Corporate CART/JB ID (IN ID) must appear in the Tour Code Box

o    Endorsement waiver not required unless combined with another waiver policy

o    Only valid Contracted Corporate CART/JBID IDs (IN ID) allowed.  This does not include Business Extra or On Business.

·         Ticket Reissue required

 

 

Changes to Origin/Destination - Allowed


 

·         Changes to the origin or destination are allowed

·         Unlimited Name Changes allowed

·         Basic Economy tickets with Point of Commencement North/South America and Asia issued on/after 01APR21 are non-changeable and are excluded from this extension

o    Changeable Basic Economy fares (issued prior to April 1, 2021 or changeable per the fare rules) which qualify for this extension may be used towards the purchase of main cabin or higher cabin fares if another BE fare is not available

§   New ticket will remain non-refundable

·         All other non-changeable fares are excluded from this extension

·         Fare difference applies

o    If new fare is higher, process as add/collect

o    If new fare is lower, a residual amount may be refunded by:

·         ARC agencies may issue residual value as an MCO

·         BSP agencies may apply for the residual value voucher through their BSPLink Refund Application (RA)

·         The voucher will be issued in the name of the person on the ticket and mailed to the agency

·         Applicable Change Fee is waived

·         Changes to Stopover city are permitted, fare difference applies

 

Note: Change of Country allowed only when the fare on the new itinerary is published in the same currency as the ticketed fare.

Reissue Policy Information


 

This policy is an extension of validity only and waives any applicable change fees. Travel agents may rebook and reissue tickets provided the below guidelines are met and applied:

 

·         Ticket issued on the following ticket stock: AA 001 only

·         Unlimited Name Changes allowed

·         Basic Economy tickets with Point of Commencement North/South America and Asia issued on/after 01APR21 are non-changeable and are excluded from this extension

o    Changeable Basic Economy fares (issued prior to April 1, 2021 or changeable per the fare rules) which qualify for this extension may be used towards the purchase of main cabin or higher cabin fares if another BE fare is not available

§   New ticket will remain non-refundable

·         All other non-changeable fares do not qualify for this waiver

·         Partially used tickets are permitted

o    Change of Country is not permitted on partially used tickets

·        Ticket must have been issued January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021

o    Tickets last issued in 2019 do not qualify for this ticket extension

·         New travel must be completed no later than December 31, 2022

·         This policy is combinable with other American waiver policies.  The waiver code assigned to any other policy applied must be included in the Endorsement Box of the new ticket

·         This exception can be utilized multiple times as long as the ticket is exchanged and travel complete by December 31, 2022

·         Ticket reissue is required more than 3 hours prior to departure of the first flight

·         Affected coupons are in OK status, this may include partially used tickets

·         Ticket reissuance must be in accordance to dates identified in this policy

·         Applies to original or exchanged tickets when travel was/is in accordance with the impacted travel dates of this policy

·         Reprice the new itinerary, any fare difference applies. If the new fare is higher, collect the fare difference, if the new fare is lower, a residual applies

·         Original issuing agency responsible for ticket reissue

·         Ticket Revalidation not permitted

·         The original ticket is not required to have the Contracted Corporate CART/JB ID (IN ID) in the Tour Code Box

·         Changes outside of these guidelines are subject to the reissue rules of the ticketed fare. This includes any applicable additional collection for fare difference

 

 

 

Rebooking - Exception to Fare Rules


 

The Fare Rule exceptions below apply to:

·         Applicable Change Fee is waived

·         Rebook travel and reprice the applicable fare, fare difference will apply

o    If new itinerary results in a higher fare, add/collect applies

o    If new itinerary results in a lower fare, may reissue with partial refund (residual) as a MCO (domestic) or through BSP RA (international)

 

 

 

SalesLink Request


 

·         Travel Notice waiver is not available via SalesLink

·         Ticket must be reissued with the Contracted Corporate CART/JB ID (IN ID) in the Tour Code Box

·         Ticket Reissue required. This is the only required verbiage and supersedes all other information.

 

 

Extend Travel Rebooking Guidelines


 

·         Basic Economy tickets with Point of Commencement North/South America and Asia issued on/after 01APR21 are non-changeable and are excluded from this extension

o    Changeable Basic Economy fares (issued prior to April 1, 2021 or changeable per the fare rules) which qualify for this extension may be used towards the purchase of main cabin or higher cabin fares if another BE fare is not available

§  New ticket will remain non-refundable

·         If your ticket is still active in the GDS, and was issued January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021, you may reissue the ticket following the Reissue Policy guidelines noted above

·         If your ticket has purged, follow the steps below:

·         Ensure you have the applicable ticket numbers for your customer(s)

·         Contact your system help desk

·         Applicable Change fee waived

·         Apply the value of the original ticket towards the purchase of a new ticket and exchange the ticket by and travel complete by December 31, 2022

·         Customer's new itinerary is rebooked/ticketed at current applicable fare and rules, additional monies may apply

·         Fare difference applies

·         If new fare is higher, process as add/collect

·         If new fare is lower, a residual amount may be refunded by:

o    ARC agencies may issue residual value as an MCO

o    BSP agencies may apply for the residual value voucher through their BSPLink Refund Application (RA)
